Debunking Myths about IT Recruitment Firms

IT Staffing agencies and IT recruitment agencies have entered into the spotlight with recent job scarcity problems and economic troubles throughout the country. The expectations of the job seekers and the manners in which they approach job-seeking may be entirely opposite.

A recruiter working in the field of information technology will approach recruitment in an entirely different style than one in public landscaping and construction.

Myth: Recruiting is easy. All you have to do is look at job boards and find candidates to fill client positions as quickly as possible.

Fact: Recruiters do their best to fit the right candidates with clients in every situation. This means knowing their candidates strengths and weaknesses and being able to predict whether an individual will succeed in a certain position. It also means knowing exactly what is required of the client, and which types of candidates would be best suited to fill the position and succeed in that specific work environment.

For example, if a candidate has been trained in typing, computing, accounting, and customer service, then putting them into an intensive warehouse position with long hours of heavy lifting and standing does not make sense. Companies and businesses continue using recruiters because they have success with the candidates that recruiting firms send them. If recruiters did not send good candidates who worked out well for the client, then they would soon be out of a job.

Myth: Recruiters are rude.

Fact: Recruiters deal with hundreds of calls and emails a day, and have to prioritize their time and energy. They are simply not able to respond to every single call. However, they will make the effort to respond to people who show persistence and drive when pursuing a new job.
