All About that you should know about LED TVs

Television is an electronic appliance that has passed through several stages of development. From the black and white TV sets to the LED TVs of the modern day, it has come a long way. Technology has vested upon the televisions a lot of attention and has come up with new and innovative upgrades from time to time. The large box televisions are slowly phasing out from the market and now is the era of the sleek flat screened LCD and LED TVs. These new generation digital television sets give a whole new and life like experiences that have never been experienced before. Where as the LCD televisions uses the Liquid Crystal Display Technology in order to produce the images the LED televisions uses LED backlight instead of using the CCFLs to produce the colours and the light.

Difference between LED and LCD televisions

The LED televisions are although a type of LCD television only, but there is a huge difference between the two in terms of the technology they use and also the quality of the pictures that they produce. The backlighting technology that is used by the LED TVs produces much clearer images than the ones produced by the fluorescent tubes used by the LCD TVs. Thus the images that one sees on an LED HDTV are sharper, clearer and much more defined.

Advantage over LCD TVs

These high end television sets have a lot of advantages over the ordinary LCD TVs. The LED televisions with full array have higher contrast levels than that of the standard LCD TVs. The colour definition of the LED televisions is much better than the ordinary LCD TVs. The owners can also save on power consumption by using the LED televisions as these consumes much less power than the LCDs and thus save a lot of money. The backlit technology allows the LED TVs to be made much lighter and thinner than the LCD TVs.

Thus it is easier and safer to mount the LEDs on the wall. Thus given the technology used by the LED televisions the picture quality is definitely going to turn out stunning. Most LED televisions come with a technology called the Local Dimming in which one can adjust the backlight to dim a few portions of it and have relative effects on the display screen. This allows to bring certain things into prominence on the screen like during the end credits one can dim the black background in order to bring the credits into more prominence.
